Meta Platforms Employee Sues Meta for Rehiring a Former Employee Who Harassed and Stalked Him
On October 1, 2024, James Napoli, an employee of Meta Platforms since 2019, and his counsel, Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC and C.A. Goldberg PLLC, filed a lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court asserting that Meta violated Mr. Napoli’s civil rights when it rehired a former Meta employee, G.F., who savagely sexually harassed and stalked Mr. Napoli for over a year (which Meta knew), and caused Mr. Napoli to experience even more harassment. Older Workers File Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit Against Raytheon for Age Discrimination in Hiring
June 11, 2024—A major government contractor has intentionally discriminated against older jobseekers and harmed their employment prospects for years, according to a new class action lawsuit filed in a federal court in Boston by AARP Foundation, Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC, and Outten & Golden LLP. The complaint alleges that RTX Corporation (formerly Raytheon Technologies Corporation) (Raytheon), one of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies, has refused to hire workers for many positions unless the applicants are recent graduates, which prevented the vast majority of qualified older applicants from obtaining or competing for those jobs and deterred many others from applying. Gay May Couple Files Class Action Lawsuit Against City of New York for Denying IVF Benefits to its Gay Male Employees and Their Partners
May 9, 2024 - Today, a gay male couple from Brooklyn filed an historic class action lawsuit against the City of New York (City) alleging that the City violates the civil and constitutional rights of thousands of gay men by categorically denying valuable in-vitro fertilization (IVF) benefits to gay male employees of the City and their partners, while providing IVF benefits to female employees and their partners and to male employees and their female partners. Older Baseball Fans File Class Action Against the Washington Nationals for Age Bias in Ticket Pricing
March 28, 2024 - Today, two older baseball fans filed a class action lawsuit against the Washington Nationals that alleged that the team engaged in unlawful age discrimination by offering a 30% ticket discount and $5 to $15 per-ticket spending credits to 21- to 39-year-old fans without offering equivalent deals to fans who are 40 or older. The lawsuit, filed in the D.C. Superior Court, alleges that in 2023 the Nationals introduced a “Millennial Ticket Discount” for 21- to 39-year-old fans that provided a 30% discount for tickets to regular season games and a $5 to $15 per-ticket spending credit, but the Nationals did not offer an equivalent discount or spending credit to fans who are 40 or older. In 2024, the Nationals rebranded this discount as the “Young Professionals Discount” with the same basic terms, but still denied the same discount and spending credit to fans 40 or older. Read More
Women Truck Drivers File Class Action Charging Major Trucking Company with Gender Discrimination in Hiring and Training Practices
October 5, 2023 - Representing three named women truck drivers and REAL Women in Trucking, Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC, in partnership with the National Women's Law Center, filed a class action hiring discrimination charge against Stevens Transport, one of the nation’s largest refrigerated trucking companies. The charge, filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleges that Stevens routinely refuses to hire women truck drivers, or substantially delays hiring them, because the company only allows women to train for driving positions with women trainers, and Stevens does not have enough women trainers to provide timely training to the qualified women drivers who apply. Black TikTok Workers File Class Action Charge Alleging That TikTok Retaliates Against Workers Who Complain of Racial Discrimination
September 21, 2023 - Today, two Black workers filed a class action charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) alleging that ByteDance Ltd., the company that operates TikTok, has a pattern or practice of retaliating against its workers of color who complain about racial discrimination. The two named plaintiffs, Nnete Matima and Joël Carter, were terminated by TikTok in August 2023 after they made numerous complaints to TikTok about the race discrimination and retaliation they experienced. Air Force Veteran Files Class Action Against the VA for Denying IVF Services to Veterans in Same-Sex Marriages
August 2, 2023 - Today, Air Force Veteran Ashley Sheffield filed a class action lawsuit against the Department of Veterans Affairs alleging that the VA violated her constitutional rights and the rights of other veterans by denying them IVF benefits because they are in same-sex marriages. Another lawsuit was filed the same day by NOW-NYC against the VA and the Department of Defense challenging similar discriminatory policies. Read More
Class Action Claims Starbucks Illegally Hid its Biometric Surveillance From Some NYC Customers and Illegally Shared Customers’ Biometric Data With Amazon
May 4, 2023 - Today, a Starbucks customer, the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P), Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC, and Pollock Cohen LLP filed a proposed class action lawsuit claiming that Starbucks illegally failed to notify customers that Starbucks’ stores using Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology in New York City collect biometric data on customers. The class action also claims that Starbucks illegally shared those customers’ biometric data with Amazon.

December 1, 2022 - Today, Real Women in Trucking, a non-profit that advocates for women truck drivers, filed a class action charge with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Meta Platforms, alleging that Meta routinely discriminates against women and older people when deciding which users receive employers’ job ads on Facebook.
